Liquidated for $17.1M on a Bitcoin short, this Hyperliquid whale shorted again an hour later — and is up about $370K
Hyperliquid wallet 0x4b62…57ca had its Bitcoin short liquidated in pieces on Oct 21 — $17.1M worth between 08:49 and 14:52 UTC, at an average price of $83,985. That was about half of all Bitcoin short liquidations on Hyperliquid that day ($33.4M).
Crypto traded higher across the board on Wednesday. According to Benzinga, the move came as the OCC finalized its rules for the GENIUS Act, the US stablecoin law, and Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent compared it to Lincoln's National Currency Act. Bitcoin touched $84,850 on Hyperliquid.
An hour later, he was short again
The wallet did not walk away:
- 16:22–16:49 UTC: about $509,000 USDC arrived from another address (0x6b9e…).
- 16:00–17:00 UTC: he opened $24.1M of new Bitcoin shorts at around $84,565 — close to the day's high.
- Another wallet joined him: 0xc3ed…00dd opened a $25.4M short at an average of $84,405.
Then Bitcoin rolled over, sliding to about $82,900 by 03:00 UTC on Oct 22.

As of 04:00 UTC he is still short 105 BTC (about $8.7M) at 40x leverage, with an entry of $82,926. His liquidation price is $86,463, about 4.3% above the current price. He is also short $2.0M of ETH at 25x (liquidation $2,906).
The squeeze took $17.1M of his position. The reload took back more than the loss on that move — so far. At 40x, a 4% bounce is all it takes to find out whether that holds.
